Throttle Body Area Comparison
Compare the total circular bore area of two throttle-body arrangements. Example: four 44 mm throttle bodies versus one 90 mm throttle body.
Results update as you type.
Results
Geometric bore area only. Actual airflow also depends on throttle shafts/plates, opening angle, discharge coefficients, pressure, runner layout and restrictions. Equal area does not guarantee equal airflow, response or horsepower. Count all bores in the arrangement. Changing units relabels entries; enter matching diameters.
Formula and assumptions
Total area = bore count × π × diameter² ÷ 4. Equivalent single-bore diameter = diameter × √count. Area change from A to B = (B area ÷ A area − 1) × 100.
