Equivalent circular geometric area only: total area = count × π × diameter² / 4. Reference diameter must come from a proven installation or manufacturer recommendation. Equal area does not establish equal exhaust bypass flow: valve lift, discharge coefficient, manifold placement, exhaust flow and boost target all matter. Horsepower and boost alone cannot determine the required wastegate.
